I think we each love and hate our hair. I know this is especially true for me in the colder months. My hair became dull, dry, and incredibly curly – time couldn’t help me. Don’t tell me what the weather is like in New York! Oh my God, it’s going to be harsh here. Well, say hello to the hairstyle that saved me when I had a question: the double french bun. It took me a few attempts to learn the French weaving tricks, but it’s now very easy for me as the years go by.
Whenever I don’t have time to warm my hair, if the weather is terrible or if I just don’t want to let my hair down, this is what I wear. As it received many compliments, I decided to try it at some festival events this year. I usually wear my hair down on special occasions, but one of the benefits of rolling my hair is that you can boldly do your makeup. For example, smoky black eyes and bold red lips.

Let’s use this week’s Topsy Ponytail tutorial to change your daily ponytail! We like this style to mimic the classic style of French braids, but half the problem!
First, make three equidistant ponytails and tie them tightly with small rubber bands.
Starting at the top, pull each band slightly away from your head to make room for the anatomy.
Next, make a hole behind the top band, turn the pony around, and go down through the hole.
Continue combining the top and middle ponytail together (repeat the previous steps for the second and third dissection).
Tighten or relax each part to complement your preferences!

This fishtail braid tutorial is the third tutorial in our adorable 4-part braid series from Jesse from our Labor of Love, Alison Brislin, and Kelly Shew. I remember asking my mom to braid my hair into fishtail braids when I was young, so now I’m pleased to have a little guide for my daughter!
Comb back / comb the top of the head. This makes the hair “sticky,” which starts forming fishtails.
Gather small pieces of hair from the back of the head and divide the hair into two parts.
Take a small part of hair from the right coat, pull it back and cross it over the left.
Take a small part of hair from the left hair, pull it back and cross it over the straight hair.
Repeat these tips on the back of the head. Then, continue the entire “queue.”
Secure with a band. The fishtail looks nice and a little messy. To achieve this effect, gently pull/loosen the braid. It doesn’t matter if it’s uneven or has small pieces falling off. Give the fishtail youthful, messy ease.
